Commissioner Appointment

The Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of a fourth Commissioner, Professor John Sharp, as of July 2010.
John Sharp is a visiting Professor at Cranfield University where he teaches marine renewable energy on their Offshore & Ocean Technology Masters course. He is a member of the BSI Committee on wave and tidal converters and Deputy Chairman of the Society of Underwater Technology (SUT's) Marine Renewable Energy Committee. He previously held a senior post in the Offshore Division of the UK Heath & Safety Executive.
He will have specific responsibilities for developing guidance on health, safety and environment and for developing other relevant regulations.
