New REA Project for Alderney underway in 2013
A Regional Environmental Assessment (REA) is currently being undertaken by ABPmer Ltd, on behalf of the Commission. The assessment is designed to assist renewable energy developers to understand the environmental considerations and risks associated with their development plans on the island or within its territorial waters.
The REA management tool follows high European environmental standards. Whilst Alderney is not part of EU, the Commission believes that, to benefit Alderney, it must operate to current worldwide best practice.
The REA will consist of three phases of works during 2013; the scoping phase, a detailed baseline characterisation and finally a determination of potentially significant environmental effects.
The Scoping Report is now available to download from the Library section and all Statutory Consultees and Stakeholders have been notified. If you wish to contact the Commission about this Project please visit the Contacts page.
