Completion of Alderney Southbank Survey

SeaStar Survey Ltd has complete acoustic and environmental baseline surveys of the Alderney South Bank sandbanks. The survey has encompassed dropdown video and stills photography of the seabed to enable us to classify the biotopes present, analysis of soft sediment grab samples to classify sediment characteristics and chemical composition of the substrata, and the use of a hull mounted Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) to measure the maximum spring tide current flows over the South Banks.

This survey work has enabled us to create a comprehensive baseline data set for the Alderney South Banks area, from which we can monitor any subsequent changes in the size and shape of the sandbanks and the long term pattern of sediment movement.
